This is the sea-based, x-band radar station. It is supposed to be based
in Adak, Alaska, but for some reason it seems to be hanging out a lot in
Pearl Harbor. When this thing first sailed into town, it turned a lot of
heads and made the local papers. But after a year or so, nobody seems to
pay it any mind. But that doesn't stop us from wondering what this thing
is really capable of and why it seems to be in Hawaii more than Alaska. We
are
pretty sure when it's running, it is probably not that safe to be
near, but then again, the military won't go into much detail. Some
have even joked that it's a weather machine. I'm not sure we'd go
that far, but who can really tell when it comes to national security? No
matter what it does, it does seem a little odd
that it has so much downtime.
